Help in a brand new small cat clinic with a dedicated team

In the Gili Islands
LUNI Lombok Indonesia is a newly registered (October 2021) animal charity located on the small tropical island Gili Trawangan close to North Lombok. There are no dogs allowed on this island and therefore the cats have taken over the regime. They have a newly opened veterinary clinic – the only clinic among the three Gili islands.
The team work to manage the populations of the cats on Gili Trawangan and outer islands. They also provide medical care mostly for cats, but also help with horses and wildlife. The small clinic remains busy caring for inpatient and outpatients with a variety of presentations; from spay/neuter, wound management, dental issues, viral diseases, palliative care for CKD patients, and more.
The clinic continues to grow and is currently equipped with a microscope, centrifuge, basic surgical instruments and autoclave, basic diagnostic tools, and a well-stocked pharmacy. They also have a working relationship with a Bali-based veterinary clinic for more advanced diagnostic needs.

Volunteers needed in 2023

LUNI Lombok has requested VBB’s veterinary assistance to provide mentorship and clinical training to their fulltime veterinarian, and assist with daily treatments, surgeries and occasionally with big TNR clinics to spay and neuter cats on all three Gili Islands.
Vet nurses will have the opportunity to assist in in daily clinic business as well as high-volume desexing clinics and can also help with feeding/caring rounds via bicycle (the island is car/motorbike free!)
Volunteers will be provided:
  • Accommodation (depending on availability for free or with big discount)
  • Free boat ride from Serangan Bali (Bluewater Express)
  • Local orientation and hospitality
  • VBB scrub shirt
  • Merchandise from LUNI Lombok
  • Professional indemnity and public liability insurance
